Rachel is a co-developer of the Be CALM Program, a mindfulness-based Social-Emotional Learning program for 6th - 9th graders. This program builds educators' capacity for mindful teaching and compassionate engagement with students to support them in learning and applying social-emotional skills in the classroom and beyond.

This research-based program was developed with users in mind. It focuses on teachers' as well as students' wellbeing, and program developers provide ongoing support within a professional learning community to enhance program sustainability.

"If something doesn't go my way or the outcome isn't what I want...if it's not something super important then okay, it's not the end of the world, it's going to be fine...I try to just take a few deep breaths and just move on from it."

Be CALM Program Training Opportunities

The foundation of teaching mindfulness and social-emotional skills to adolescents is embodiment of them. The Be CALM Teacher training pathway is for educators who wish to model kindness, curiosity, nonjudgmental acceptance, and courage in the learning environment.

We offer trainings throughout the year for individuals who are interested in pursuing the teacher training pathway. We offer on-site trainings for schools and districts that are interested in implementation across one or more grade levels with at least 10 staff participants. We also work with schools and districts to build internal capacity for scaling and sustaining the Be CALM Program. Please contact us for a free consultation on how we can best meet your school or district's needs.
